Recreation and Aquatic Center at Emerald Glen Park

Many folks in Dublin have been wondering when the grand $18M Recreation and Aquatic Center at Emerald Glen Park will be built. The City is currently in the planning phases. The first phase of the Center is expected to be built out by the summer of 2012. Here’s a quick summary of the game plan:

  • Design of the Recreation and Aquatic Complex will begin in October 2008.
  • Design and bidding should take up to 22 months and construction will take up to 24 months.
  • The City of Dublin anticipates that the facility will open in summer 2012.
  • The last phase of Emerald Glen Park will include the Community Center, lake and outdoor amphitheater. The timing of this facility will depend on the pace of development in eastern Dublin, and the collection of community facility impact fees.

The one “hot” issue with the Aquatic Center is whether or not the competitive pool/facility will be built at Emerald Glen or at the Dublin Swim Center (adjacent to Dublin High School). More to come in another post…
