A Gael Force is sweeping through the North Coast as the Dublin High boys varsity basketball team extended their best season since 1973 by dominating the Bishop O’Dowd Dragons in the North Coast Section semi-finals (hosted in Dublin) tonight by a score of 65 – 56.

The Dublin High gym was packed tonight with about 3/4 Dublin fans and 1/4 Bishop O’Dowd fans. The atmosphere was intense and many of the Dublin fans showed their unity by wearing “We Believe” t-shirts signifying their commitment to the team as the “6th Man” .

Dublin took the lead early in the game with a literal 1-2 punch of Tim Scott (#1) and KJ Scott (#2). Tim and KJ rained down 3-point and jump shots for most of the first half . Bishop O’Dowd started playing tough in the 4th period by coming within 4 points with only a few minutes to go…until Dublin’s Johnny Warlich (#11) delivered the knock-out blow by dropping a 3-point shot and 4 clutch free throws with only seconds remaining in the game.

The Dublin High Gael Force extinguished the fire of the Bishop O’Dowd Dragons by a final score of 65 – 56 and secured a trip to the 2008 NCS Division III Championship Game against #1 seed Campolindo at St. Mary’s College on March 1st at 8pm.
