The Promenade is Breaking Ground in 2008
The past few weeks have been full of great news for Dublin residents. Less than 2 weeks ago, Whole Foods confirmed that they would be opening a store at the soon-to-be-built Green on Park Place (across from Sybase and Hacienda Crossing). And now…
Charter Properties and Leisure Sports Inc. (owner of Club Sport in Pleasanton, among other properties) will build a 50,000 sq. ft. gym at the Promenade. Both companies plan to start building in 2008 with plans to open the gym in 2009. The gym will occupy nearly one-half of a 110,000 sq. ft. development with office space and retailers. This is incredible news because this gym will provide the much-needed “anchor” that should draw in other retailers and restaurants needed to fill out the first phase of the upscale Promenade development. The Promenade will provide the village center for the Villages at Dublin Ranch and should be a major draw for both companies that are seeking premium office space with an abundance of nearby amenities and shoppers that are looking for an experience on par with Santana Row in San Jose.

What are your thoughts of this? I am not sure a “gym” constitutes a high end anchor store. This seems more like a new concept gym which won’t carry big names. Not that I would really want “big” names but I would like it to be high end. I am still hoping for a few great restaurants from Sf, Oakland or Berkeley to make the jump and open a restaurant there.
All in all I am really glad that it is getting started.

I don’t know I feel like Dublin is already getting over crowded. I don’t know how much more they can fill it up. Just my thoughts…

Same thing here..I don’t think a gym is the anchor store that I was expecting for the image that I had of Promenade. I was imagining ala- Santana Row with its upscale restaurants, cafes and elegant shops within aesthetically inspiring landscapes. And half of the property will be occupied by the gym! Hmmm…it just doesn’t fit my idea of a small, elegant village center.
