Weekly Poll: Dublin’s Mix of Housing Options

Dublin offers current and prospective residents a vast assortment of housing options – condos, executive homes, and everything in between.
The type of housing that Dublin offers has an impact on many aspects of our community, including:
- Identity of the City
- Jobs (desirable housing options will attract skilled workers and therefore more companies/employers)
- Demographics
- Sustainability
- Stores and Restaurants
- Aesthetics
Given the importance of having desirable housing options, it’s critical to determine Dublin’s optimal mix of housing.
This week’s question is – what type of new housing would you most like to see built in Dublin?

It would be fabulous if developers would add a small backyard or patio when building townhouses to make it more attractive to buyers.
I understand that they are trying to make more money by keeping the lots smaller, but it would give people more choices, especially for folks who cannot afford a single family home. Also, this would provide a great alternative for people who don’t want to deal with yard maintenance, but want a small outdoor area.
Most people want to have a small outdoor space where they can have a gathering or a place where they can drink a cup of coffee and read the paper in the morning.

John, after you are elected in, I hope you will address the eventual need for a high school to be built on the east side of Dublin to accomondate all the existing and new housing going on north of Fallon Rd.
Yes, I agree w/ you that Dublin offers an assortment of housing options; but if the city continues to build homes, wouldn’t it make sense to include a proposed high school in the next 5-7 years? I’m thinking in terms of space (land) for the high school if all of the land is used for residental properties and city parks. I’m not sure if it’s even in the foreseeable future, but wanted to shed some light and hear your thoughts on it–thanks.

Hi Anonymous – this is something that I’m continually thinking about. It would be great if we could discuss this over a cup of coffee. Can you please email me at john.zukoski@gmail.com if you’re available to discuss?
Thx, John Z.

I think Townhomes and single family homes that are of high quality… Dublin a place where people work hard and play hard.. They earn these higher priced housing. Lets make property go up and not down by over populating the area… upscale and nice communites .. the next danville..

We need more executive single family homes. Too many condos “Condo City” and too many small lot homes stacked on top of each other. I live in a single family home in Dublin Ranch and can smell the neighbor’s cooking as I am so close to them. I can hear their conversation. My kids barely has a yard to play in. We wnat to move up but at the next leverl there aren’t much to choose from in Dublin.
