Windstar Hotel & Retail at West Dublin BART Station Transit Village
As part of Windstar’s request to add an additional level of condos to their condo development at the West Dublin BART Station Transit Village, they agreed to reduce the number of hotel rooms in their adjacent development to 150 from 240. Last month, Windstar requested to increase the number of hotel rooms at their West Dublin BART Station Transit Village hotel & retail development from 150 rooms back to 240 rooms and to permit the building of 24,000 sq. ft. of office space. On Tuesday night, the Dublin City Council asked City Staff to conduct a study to see what the impact (e.g., traffic, water/sewer) of adding the additional 90 rooms and office space would be in the West Dublin transit village area.
It’s very likely that the requested project changes will be approved by the Dublin City Council given that the Windstar hotel/retail/office development must be completed to fund a portion of the West Dublin BART station construction.

I understand the West Dublin BART Village is an important project, but I don’t know if the City of Dublin should be this loose with any developer as it has been with Windstar. What did we get in return really by letting Windstar build the additional 90 condos? I hope we will take away 90 condos from other upcoming developments; otherwise, we will be stuck with a net gain of condos.

Looks like Pleasanton City Council agreed to amend its general plan and zoning to allow 350 apartment units and 14,000 square feet of retail space. I wonder how this addition will affect Windstar’s project in Dublin? What are your thoughts, John?

Hi Anonymous – this is a great indication of the demand that Windstar expects to have at the West Dublin/Pleasanton BART Station transit village. With that said, in a perfect world, I’d prefer that the apartments and retail space not be built on the Pleasanton side so that the supply of homes and retail pads could be limited to Dublin. Admittedly, that’s a Dublin-centric perspective…but I’m a Dublin-centric guy.
Thx, John Z.

This is exactly the place to encourage higher density. Any increase here though should reduce the same amount elsewhere in town that is away from TOD. Great opportunity for the city to reduce the amount of high density that in the out lying area of town like Sorrento and Wallis Ranch.
