San Ramon Road Trail and Fallon Road Bridge

San Ramon Road Trail Improvements – the City of Dublin will be repairing and making landscape improvements to the San Ramon Road Trail beginning later this year with an expected completion by 2010. The existing trail has areas where tree roots have heaved the trail paving to such an extent that Dublin City Staff has received comments that it is difficult to traverse. Here is a time line of the project:
- Tree root barriers will be installed beginning in November 2008.
- The pathway repairs and landscape improvements are expected to be completed during spring to early summer 2009.
- The final phase of the project will be to replace the trail lighting fixtures by sometime in 2010.
The total cost of this project is anticipated to be approximately $210K.

Fallon Road Bridge – residents of Dublin Ranch may have noticed the construction equipment and other ongoing activities to the north of Kingsmill Terrace/Signal Hill Drive. Dublin is working on building a bridge over Moller Creek that connects Fallon Road South (the section that currently terminates at Dublin Ranch) with Fallon Road North (the section that currently begins at Silvera Ranch). The expectation is that this bridge will be completed by September 2009. One interesting note is that the Fallon Road bridge can only be worked on for 4 months of the year to accommodate the 8 month breeding period of the Golden Eagle.

Taking a look on the Dublin City Website, you can read all about “Bella” the golden eagle– Sounds like she’s quite busy in those 8 months (gives birth to 1-3 young almost each year?)!!!– Did someone put some candles and Barry White on out there in that tree too? Hahaah–

I find it amazing that Bella the Eagle and her babies have not been scared away by the gunfires from the shooting range. Is she giving birth to deaf chicks?

I hope they will finish the 580/Fallon road exit soon because those 4 bumps on the overpass will destroy many cars in the months to come.

Disappointed that they still haven’t done anything to connect the IronHorse trail under 580 at the library

John,
Do you know if the city has a available funding or new future plans to widen Tassajara from 580 to Gleason and underground the utilities. It is an eyesore and to think we would have to wait maybe another 10 years for a developer to build on those Dublin Land Co. parcel before any improvements are done on this road. Can the city look at some source of funding to do the work in advance and collect from any developer of those parcel at a later date?
Also what happened to the Granite Welcome to Dublin signs at our 9 entry points. I thought one was to go in first at Hacienda with the IKEA project, now that is gone is Blake Hunt footing the bill for that location? What is the timing for other gateways?
Lets be creative!!

Hi Anonymous – these are great questions.
The widening of Tassajara will come with the development of the Dublin Land Company property. It would be a condition of approval and a requirement of any developement on the properties. Dublin could undertake the design and construction through a CIP (Capital Improvement Project) project but that would be extremely costly and funding could be difficult to line up since development could occur in a the near-term. With the widening of the road, the utilities would be required to be placed underground as a condition of approval (as long as the electrical transmission lines aren’t too hot to be buried).
Regarding the welcome signs, I believe that Blake Hunt is expected to provide a granite welcome site on Hacienda as a condition of approval on the Green on Park Place development. There will also be signs installed on San Ramon Road and Tassajara Road. I’ll be posting a separate entry to provide an update on the East/West Dublin BART Corridor Enhancement project. John,
any plans by the City to imrove the median landscaping for Dublin BLVD. between Myrtle Drive and Tassajara? Take close look at it as you drive, the groundscape has either died or dying, bare dirt on the most part and at time littered with debri. This is our main E. W. corridor with high traffic and visibility.

Hi Anonymous – Dublin currently doesn’t have a capital project to improve the median landscaping on Dublin Boulevard between Myrtle Drive and Tassajara Road and it isn’t part of the East and West Dublin BART Station Corridor Enhancements project. However, a member of the City Staff will check on the condition of the plants and let Dublin’s maintenance superintendent know if it looks like they need to be replaced or need more caring.

Thanks John,
More caring and possibly some replacement as the ground plants are either dead or on its’ last breath. Lots of open dirt. The plants that are thriving aren’t trimmed, it looks quite messy and weed like. Other plants as you get closer to Tassarjara are growing out of their trunks with the roots pushing well above the base line.
