by John M. Zukoski  |  Topics:  City Hall

The next Dublin City Council meeting will be held on Tuesday 11/18/2008 at 7pm in our City Council Chambers. This week’s agenda is chock-full of key items. Here are just a few of the hot topics that you might be interested in:

Development Agreements - for Schaefer Ranch South, Fallon Crossing, The Green on Park Place, and the Anderson property mixed-income apartments (tied to the affordable housing component of the Positano project). These are on the Consent Calendar, so they will likely be approved in batch.

Smoking Ban – proposal to strengthen Dublin’s Smoking Pollution Control Ordinance to ban smoking in 50% of the units within apartment complexes, require additional disclosures to prospective tenants about where the smoking units are within a complex, and ban smoking in common areas.

Croak and Jordan Property – proposal to require that: a) 50% of all Medium density units have at least 400 sq. ft. of private usable fenced yards with no less than 18 feet in any direction; and b) common areas are provided for Medium density units that do not have private yards. This would only apply to the Croak and Jordan properties.

Parks and Community Services Strategic Plan – the City Council will decide whether they want to approve the draft Parks and Community Services Strategic Plan as is or if additional changes are needed.

Impact of Economic Downturn on Dublin’s 2008-2009 Budget – the City had initially anticipated a $65K surplus for the 2008-2009 fiscal year. However, due to the challenging economic environment, the City is now projecting that we will have between $742K – $1.5M less revenue than initially expected. Administrative Services Director Paul Rankin will be proposing a few ideas to cut expenses and asking the Council to direct City Staff to keep working to re-balance the 2008-2009 budget.

Central Parkway Safety Improvements – City Staff will be presenting a proposal to improve pedestrian safety along Central Parkway between Tassajara Road and Brannigan Street (Council Decision).

Please feel free to email or call our Mayor and Council members to share your feedback in advance of the City Council meeting.

The lack of parking in a residential area such as the Villages is not prosperity nor a sign of success. It is the absolute anti quality of life when one spends nearly a half million dollars on a home but cannot park anywhere near it nor can they have guests as there are no parking for them.

Schaub Schaub Schaub you are embarassing us as representative of our beloved town by making P. Hilton like comments or rationale.

Poor planning on top of poor planning is the right answer.
