The Dublin City Council has recently taken bold steps to re-emphasize their commitment to ensuring the safety of residents in Dublin Ranch. On November 18th, the Council voted to implement safety improvements along Central Parkway to ensure that pedestrians have safe access from the Dublin Ranch Villages to Tassajara Road.

Most recently on December 2nd, the Council approved the addition of a safety guard, street/sign markings, and directed City Staff to study the potential for additional safety improvements near John Green Elementary School (which could include speed bumps).

Please check out these Around Dublin YouTube videos for more information:

This week’s poll question is - Given the case presented by concerned residents at Dublin Ranch, how should the City proceed with respect to the requested pedestrian safety improvements?

Dublin is not committed to pedestrian or car safety. We’ve repeatedly asked the City to put a stoplight, or even a Stop sign, at the intersection of Persimmon and Central Parkway. They always tell us No, even though it’s very hard to see oncoming cars if you’re turning left from Persimmon on to Central Parkway. Unfortunately it will take the death of some little kid before they take action, but by then it’ll be too late. And when that happens, maybe the City can show the parents of that kid the letter we sent them asking them to put up a light, and then show her the letter of the City saying No.

Hi Anonymous – this is the first time that I heard about this safety issue, although I know exactly what you mean. That can be a difficult left turn because it is difficult to see cars traveling eastbound on Central Parkway.

Please feel free to email me at john.zukoski@gmail.com if you have additional details or would like to discuss further. I think that we should bring this issue to the attention of the City Council.

My husband and I are avid walkers. We walk everywhere. I’ve been highly disappointed with the safety in quite a few of the areas around here. I will be very very happy if they fix a lot of these issues.
