The Dublin Rotary Club hosted a speech contest last week at the Dublin Radisson Hotel to find the top high school speakers from all of Dublin, Livermore, and Pleasanton. The event was led by Dublin Rotary President Bob Tucknott and Contest Director Mike Kyle. The high school contestants spoke in front of a packed house and the quality of the speeches ranged from excellent to outstanding. All of the speeches focused on themes including fairness, truthfulness, goodwill, and friendship with flairs of originality and inspiration.

The contestants, along with the high school they represented, were as follows:

  1. Katy Sanlis, Livermore High(First place);
  2. Annie Arcuri, Dublin High (Second place);
  3. Nidhi Mastey, Foothill High (Third place);
  4. Charles Guo, Foothill High;
  5. Chris Pulido, Amador High; and
  6. Elizabeth Camacho, Granada High.

Katy Sanlis and Dublin’s own Annie Arcuri will face 8 other top speakers from the local area on March 20th to vie for a chance to compete in the District championship on Sunday April 19. The District winner will earn $1,000 and bragging rights for all of Alameda County and the South Bay. Best of luck to Dublin High’s Annie Arcuri!
