Wells Middle School Wins a 2009 California Distinguished School Award

Dublin’s very own Wells Middle School was recently named a 2009 California Distinguished School based on their educational excellence for all students and progress in narrowing the achievement gap for students – regardless of their background, conditions, or current circumstances. Murray Elementary won a 2008 California Distinguished School Award.
In addition to meeting various eligibility criteria, schools receiving a California Distinguished School award must demonstrate prowess in the following areas:
- Federal assessment results as measured by No Child Left Behind (NCLB) and Adequate Yearly Progress (AYP)
- Academic Performance Index (API)
- Closing the Achievement Gap
- Intervention or Sanction Status
The 2009 Distinguished School Awards Ceremony will be held at the Disneyland Hotel on May 29th. California State Superintendent Jack O’Connell will present each school with a 2009 California Distinguished School plaque and flag.
Congratulations to Wells Middle School!

Congrats to Wells Middle School…great job. Let’s all work to continue improving other schools within DUSD and get more on the list next time….to my fellow parents – please be involved as much as you can…it makes a huge difference.

Good jobs for those who involved in this award. This is also a good new amid of the depressing housing market in Dublin. Better school mean higher demand in housing and then holding up the price. We all should keep up with the good works despite the recent recognition.
Thanks all,

Great news but lets hope that these same kids continue on to Dublin High instead of going onto private schools or moving to nearby communities and attending their award winning High Schools instead.
