Crime Alert: Residential Burglaries on Brittany Lane and Brittany Drive
Dublin Police Services issued the following Crime Prevention Alert on October 23, 2009. If you come across a suspicious vehicle (driving slowly and/or aimlessly, nervous mannerisms of drivers/occupants, parked and occupied) that matches the description, please take down as much information as possible (a license plate number would be especially useful) and call it in to dispatch (925)462-1212.
- Suspect Description: Hispanic male adult; early twenties; thin build; wearing black baseball cap with red brim, white t-shirt, dark pants
- Suspect Vehicle: Early 90′s black Lexus LS 400 with shiny silver rims
On Monday, October 5, 2009 there was a residential burglary on Brittany Lane and an attempted residential burlgary on Brittany Drive. The attempted burglary took place at approximately 12 noon, when the resident was awakened by the sound of excessive doorbell ringing and a pounding at the front door. The resident yelled out, which frightened the suspect who fled in the above-described vehicle. A footprint at the door indicates entry was attempted by kicking the door in.
Another resident on Brittany Lane returned home to find it had been burglarized sometime between 9 am and 6 pm that same day. An unknown suspect(s) had kicked his front door open and took a laptop computer, 3 digital cameras, and a router. Estimated loss is $3,500. Neighbors were contacted and said they did not hear or see anything suspicious.
Residents are advised to be on the lookout for vehicles that either appear to be driving around aimlessly, parked with occupants in one area for long periods of time, or do not seem to belong in the neighborhood. Residents are also encouraged to report unknown persons exhibiting suspicious behavior, such as furtive glances, peeking through windows, and walking to/from rear yards. Obtaining as much information about vehicles (make, model, color, license plate number, direction of travel) and individuals (height, weight, hair, scars, marks, tattoos, clothing, etc.) is critical to police investigations should a crime occur.
The Crime Prevention Unit encourages residents to form a Neighborhood Watch on their street to foster community awareness and persuade neighbors to look out for one another and report suspicious activity or vehicles. If residents are interested in forming Neighborhood Watch, contact Community Safety Assistants Val Ridad at (925)833-6677, or Laura Correa-Hernandez at (925)833-6686.

Gotta love the Hispanic males. Even burglars are driving a Lexus these days.

I know you are just being sarcastic. You do not have to say it out loud, although most people know who are most likely to commit this kind of crimes statistically. In this very sensitive society, a lot of people just like to use that “r” word. Let’s just watch out for those criminals.

Do these houses that get broken into when the owner is not home have alarms? Just wondering if I should bother getting one installed.

Never mind. I just read the comments from another article. I better get one.

I was watching a Santa Rita Jail special on TV yesterday. Scary place! When criminals are release from the jail, do they just let them out on Gleason wandering the streets?

Totally….
Just look for the periodic broken car glass on path to the BART station. I know that this jail was there long before a lot of the housing developments surrounding it….but to just let them out to get some payback on their way to the BART station is ridiculous!

Can we request the jail officers to escort the released criminals to the BART station? What does it take to make the officers do that?
