Yes it is terrific to see businesses thrive in Dublin, but not businesses like this one. The evidence and science are dubious (at best) regarding the benefits of resveratrol. Since when do we get our medical advice from Barbara Walters? Until these benefits are proven in humans, this product is quackery. Anti-oxidants are great when they are in food, but the latest evidence shows the consumption of anti-oxidants in supplement form to possibly do more harm than good. Beta-carotene is a perfect example.
I absolutely love this blog, but frankly this post made Around Dublin lose a lot of credibility with me. Obviously the authors care about Dublin residents and that’s wonderful, but if you care about them, don’t promote dubious products that can potentially harm these same residents. It’s one thing to profile a local business, but another thing to tout health benefits that just aren’t there and to reference misleading studies done on resveratrol.
Go Long is an example of a company going after your pocket book by jacking up prices in their quest to take advantage of a gullible public that just doesn’t understand science. And that’s not the public’s fault, because we all want to be healthier, but it’s the job of responsible reporters to call this business for what it is. At the very least, this post should have at least had one sentence stating that tons of doctors and researchers, including my own doctor, believe the resveratrol hype to be a bunch of bunk at this point.
Please, stick to a well balanced diet of real food that includes lots of fruits and vegetables, and leave the supplements to the MonaVie peddlers who have absolutely no scruples to speak of.

While there are definitely companies that prey on people with products they know for sure are not what they promote it as, I would not be sure that Go Long falls under that category.
Yes, I too wonder about the value and safety of Stevia and Resveratrol, but that doesn’t mean that Go Long is specifically preying on the public. These ingredients are controversial because there is a large group that supports both sides and Go Long may just happen to be on the side that you and I are not.. That doesn’t mean specifically that they are evil and preying on the others..
Doctors advice is a whole other thing. For the most part I respect doctors and their input/advice but the black eye on their industry is the whole gift program for prescriptions that has since been modified. For those who don’t know, there was a time, not too many years ago, that your doctor may have been racking up trips to hawaii, golf clubs,etc when he or she was writing prescriptions– The drug companies would reward them for reaching certain levels and therefore many would write you a prescription based on how many more they had to go before winning a free trip—
Were all doctors doing this? No, just like this example, there were bad doctors preying on the public and there were good doctors doing what they think was best for their patients..
