Family fun has arrived in Dublin, CA! Butler Amusements’ family-friendly carnival will be in Dublin from Thursday, March 25th, until Sunday, March 28th. This year’s carnival is located directly across from Hacienda Crossings on the corner of Hacienda Drive and Martinelli Way. Admission to the carnival is free. Each person may choose to pay $25 per visit for unlimited carnival rides or use 3 to 5 coupons for each ride. The cost of one coupon is $1.

Among the 17 carnival rides at Butler Amusements in Dublin are the traditional Century Wheel, Carousel, Kids Coaster, and Tilt-a-Whirl. Butler will also have the more adrenaline-inducing rides like the Cliffhanger for teenagers and the Super Shot, a freefall ride that is similar to the Edge at Great America.

Kids and adults alike are welcome to try their luck at winning prizes with the midway games including favorites like Water Races and Balloon Darts. Butler also has plenty of traditional carnival snack, meal, and beverage options for visitors.

The hours for this year’s carnival are:

  • Thursday, March 25: 4PM to 10PM
  • Friday, March 26: 4PM to 11PM
  • Saturday, March 27: 11AM to 11PM
  • Sunday, March 28: Noon to 10PM

Butler is partnering with the Dublin Rotary Club for this year’s carnival. Some of the proceeds from this special event will benefit Dublin Rotary’s various philanthropic efforts. “Butler is excited about returning to Dublin and supporting Dublin’s Rotarians,” shared Butler Amusements’ Marketing Director Andrea Owen.

Are you sure it’s open this weekend? I drove by it this evening and it looked empty and abandoned. In addition, their own website makes no mention of Dublin. Perhaps it starts next weekend? The City of Dublin also knew nothing about it when my wife called this week.

Hi Anonymous – it is this weekend. Who did you speak with at City Hall?

      Thx, John Z.

Don’t know the name, it was someone in the Parks & Rec center. It’s quite unbelievable, and embarrassing, that they didn’t even know about it. Had it not been for this blog, or driving by the site, I’d have never known about the carnival. Haven’t seen ads anywhere, either.

Hi Anonymous – the folks in Planning and the City Manager’s office helped to organize the event. The promotional effort definitely could have been stronger.

          Thx, John Z.

We stopped by today, but left right away. The rides looked cool and all, but no way would we pay $5 per ride, per person, for the ferris wheel, for instance. And as we walked around, we were harassed constantly to play the games, but that’s just how carnivals are. I suppose it could be fun for families who don’t mind paying a fortune, but they didn’t get a dime out of us.

Hi Anonymous – the cost per ride can be a bit steep. The best value for ride enthusiasts is the $25/person wristband.

            Thx, John Z.

What’s the plan for the site? Was it going to be a shopping center from Dublin Blvd to 580?

We almost went this afternoon, but could tell from the freeway that they were just running the rides empty to gather attention. What an advertising dud. Now, if this had been a fundraiser or something, I’m sure people would have gone…..but this seemed like a big rip off to support no one other than a corporation.

sorry excuse my written im (disabled)an i’m a former financial marketing planner\ meant well \ this aint no Great America or Marine world, 6 flags etc wrist band for $25.00?.throw in a Circus and schools commmunity fund raiser booths which have barbeques, cup cake cookies etc.&lil gamming booths for there cause .

cut the -price down to $1.00 rides and games and they will come going back to the good ole days of carnival fairs. the carnival is worried about overhead and selfish….when people see or hear rumors of $1.00..then food booth profit and goes up everything we r talking about volume of people replace a few people just like products the more affordable the more the people (quote ) why do u think majority of people crowd Wal-mart

remember when community schools are involved then there tons of students will go especially the toddlers if schools sell bookelet tickets as a fundraiser where a precentage goes to the schools.

you have more of a chance of \ build it and they will come !!

people driven by on the highway lookin to the left or right sayn wow kids look at the carnival how come its small? why aren’t the rides really moving or why isn’t it crowded ? is it worth pulling over ? whats going through there mind is $4.00 & up rides and the community crowd and double rides brings in the highway drivers bring in 100 times more the profit. too small is not worth the stop!!

1.) hello Recession/economy crashing barely picking up.. why is gas still going up barely filling up gas to get back to work or paying our monthly housing cause do to them going up too fast causes the economy to crash and lay offs cutt pays and alot of these business are not paying cost of living just 3% or skips a year or 2.. so the carnival isn’t helping the stress to relief which it should be …

and no # 1 where was the music thats is the touch to hear the sound of carnival excitement makes the wallets come out !!

Not family friendly, the staff are quite rude, no smiles or enthusiasm. Some look like they just got out of Santa Rita. Their motto was they are in the Family Business. It stops there though, at $3 per merry go round ride plus if you have a small child where a parent had to assist and stand next to that child, the parent has to pay $3 too even though the parent is not even taking up any space, horses in which they can sell to another kid. The parent is only standing to the side of the horse their kid is riding on but they still charge $3 for the parent. Family friendly??
