Summer Science Camps by Spectrum of Science

With four different summer camps in Dublin, Pleasanton, and San Ramon, CA, Spectrum of Science is helping children in elementary school develop a competitive edge while giving them fun-based science designed to instill confidence and to turn learning into play. Their interdisciplinary curriculum incorporates more than just “science.” Lessons are designed to stimulate youngsters to express their own originality and to motivate them to see their world in a totally new way. Children will explore, discover, and test each experiment. Each lab includes hands on, dynamic activities, a make & take home project and a vocabulary card. The vocabulary cards expand the learning to include the families at home.
The topics for Summer 2010 include Passport to Science, Physics & Fun, Sea & Space Science Capers, and Science Returns without Boundaries.
PASSPORT TO SCIENCE:
Travel through the amazing world of science. So much to discover and so little time. Labs include happening experiments and a continental journey. Compare Pangea with today’s continents. Foray deep into fluid concoctions and effervescent chemistry. General science labs include biology, chemistry, physics, and more. Each student will complete the science exploration with a stamped passport!
PHYSICS AND FUN:
Students will learn principles of simple machines, structural details, electrical circuits, and more. Applying the principles they have learned, students will use recycled materials to create their own unique projects. The only limitation is their imagination.
SEA & SPACE SCIENCE CAPERS:
This camp covers science from the depths of the earth to the outer regions of space. Probe unknown regions of the deep ocean and the universe. Students will get to design their own missions and vehicles with K’nex.
SCIENCE RETURNS WITHOUT BOUNDARIES:
This camp features a return of projects done during the year’s after school program. Included are labs such as the boney skeletal frame, smelly connections, and the great brain. Take a spin around the solar system, and see the celestial universe. Discover the differences amongst the various dinosaurs.
