Dublin on High Alert for Attempted Home Burglaries

Dublin Police Services recently mailed a special information bulletin to residents on Ruthven Lane, McKay Lane, Sornoway Lane, Melvich Lane, and Craigtown Lane. On Tuesday, May 11th, a resident reported an attempted residential burglary on Ruthven Lane. At approximately 1:55PM, an unknown suspect tried to kick open the resident’s front door, while he was at home.
The resident heard a loud pounding on his door. Because he was not expecting anyone, he chose not to answer the door. Later that day, when the resident was on his way out, he noticed the door frame was damaged and the front door had shoe prints on it. Dublin Police Services would like to remind residents to respond verbally to a knock on the front door whenever possible.
The same day, a resident on Brittany Drive responded to a doorbell ring by someone looking for “Martinez.” The resident was a victim of an attempted residential burglary in November 2009, and she believes the person at her door was the suspect from the November incident. The suspect was driving a black or dark green 4-door Lexus with silver rims and gold trim. San Ramon Police Department is also investigating a string of residential burglaries linked to a dark-colored Lexus with shiny rims.
Currently the Ruthven Lane area does not have a Neighborhood Watch Group. If residents are interested in forming a crime watch group, please Community Safety Assistant Val Ridad at (925)833-6677. The Around Dublin Team would like to thank those readers who heeded the calls of the Crime Prevention Unit and forwarded this special information bulletin to us. Because the City of Dublin and Dublin Police Services have opted not to add the Around Dublin Blog as one of their press release recipients, we rely on readers like you to forward special safety bulletins like this to us, so we may help to get the word out to the community.

Thank you for these alerts, and thank you for maintaining such a great, informative website. This is the first place I go to find out what’s happening in Dublin.

Ruthven does have a neighborhood watch program in place. This street is part of California Highlands Home Owners Association. The HOA has had this program in place for a number of years, and just recently had another meeting with the DPD.

Hi Anonymous,
According to the special bulletin that was forwarded to us, the Ruthven Lane area does NOT have a Neighborhood Watch Group.

They might not list the street, but the association as a whole does. I attended both meetings that where held. Just trying to correct the misinformation. I also know for a fact that the homeowner also notified the management company and the HOA Board of Directors, as I am a member of the Board of Directors.

Hi Anonymous,
Thank you. Unfortunately, unless we hear otherwise from the City of Dublin and Dublin Police Services, we cannot change that particular detail as presented in the special bulletin.

“…the City of Dublin and Dublin Police Services have opted not to add the Around Dublin Blog as one of their press release recipients…”
What the heck are they thinking about? AD always comes up first when you search anything related to Dublin on internet. They should get modernized and use the modern information sharing technology and social network.

search dublin ca
Yahoo – AD is 6th result
Google – AD not on first page of results
Bing – AD not on first page of results

You are just lying when you say AD is not on the first page of Google results when you use “dublin ca” as keywords to search, unless my Google is different from yours.
This is just one of the keywords. What about other keywords? Did you try this one “dublin ca monthly crime”?
BTW, who cares about Bing-a-Bing? It is such a stupid and useless search engine.

Using Google, AD is listed 6th on the first page.

Google’s search algorithms return different results based on your location and search history, among other factors. They can also change as often as every search based on what other users are searching for and clicking on.

Today in Tassajara Meadows a person in an Eco-Water uniform came to the door offering to test the water, but:
* She couldn’t explain what exactly it is her company does or what she would do if I let her in to “test the water.”
* Seemed overly concerned about our dogs.
* Wanted to know whether or not we’ll be home over the holiday weekend.
* The name on her card was handwritten and the phone number on her card was disconnected.
Seemed suspicious Be aware.

what does she drive or look like?

Did you call EcoWater to complain?
12:18 AM on May 26th, 2010
I googled eco-water and got the same phone number as printed on the card she gave me. It was disconnected. I didn’t bother with the national number, and just called the Dublin PD. She may have been totally legit, but the disconnected phone number on top of the other stuff made me wonder. The PD said they’d check it out, but I don’t know if they spoke to her or not.

Hi Anonymous,
Thank you for reporting what you saw to Dublin Police Services. By staying vigilant and sharing what we see with the Police, we can keep our community safe.

No visible vehicle. 20-something, white, 5’4″ or so, dark blond hair pulled back, logo’d polo, khakis.

I live in Tassajara Meadows as well and have seen this woman several times. Sometimes she is outside of her vehicle, relaxing in the pocket park at the intersection of Casterson and Creekview, smoking a cigarette. I will be sure to notify the authorities the next time I see her.

This is ridiculous. Remember the 2nd Amendment, people.

I did the search too and AD is not on page 1 of google and is number 6 of yahoo, clearly it is not the most important nor accurate website about Dublin. Dig deeper to see who is behind it and you will see info is slanted and not accurate.

who caaaaaaaaaaaares. Don’t come on the blog if its such an irrelevant site.

Re: The Ruthven Lane incident:
As a resident of California Highlands, I find it very disconcerting that the DPD did not send a warning letter to everyone in CH. Since we all live in relatively close proximity to one another, it would only make sense to do that. Furthermore, why did the CH HOA not notify everyone as well?
