Tri-Valley Animal Rescue Taking Part in Petsmart Charities Spring National Adoption Event

Tri-Valley Animal Rescue (TVAR) will be showcasing many animals looking for a loving home at the PetSmart Store on 6960 Amador Plaza Road, Dublin, CA 94568, as part the PetSmart Charities National Adoption Event. This special event will run from Friday, April 30, to Sunday, May 2, 2010, in all 1,149 PetSmart stores in the United States and Canada. Hill’s Science Diet and PetSmart are the proud sponsors of this event.
Adoptable pets will be available from 9AM to 9PM on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday the pets will be available from 10AM to 6PM. The overall goal of this adoption event is to place 18,500, cats and small animals from local shelters across North America into loving new homes for life. Not only will thousands of pets find new homes, but event sponsors Hill’s Science Diet and PetSmart are also providing free samples to everyone who adopts.
As one of more than 2,000 animal-welfare agencies in North America participating in the event, TVAR is a nonprofit, all volunteer organization whose mission is to end the unnecessary euthanasia of homeless animals. TVAR cooperates with area shelters and rescue groups, primarily the East County Animal Shelter in Dublin, CA, to provide homeless animals with socialization, foster homes, medical care, and the opportunity for another chance.
As the largest funder of animal-welfare efforts in North America, PetSmart Charities has provided more than $110 million in grants and programs benefiting animal-welfare organizations. PetSmart Charities believes that pet adoption is critical to ending the tragedy of euthanasia – a tragedy that claims the lives of millions of homeless pets throughout North America every year. Adopting a pet saves a life and adopters get a wonderful, lifelong companion.
“With so many shelters and rescue groups filled to capacity, this event gives animal-welfare organizations the chance to find much-needed homes for pets in need and save lives,” said Susana Della Maddalena, executive director of PetSmart Charities, Inc. “We are proud to work with so many dedicated shelters and rescue groups on this exciting event, and we sincerely hope that it helps them save the lives of even more pets in their care.” In the U.S. alone, an estimated 6 million to 8 million dogs and cats enter animal shelters annually, but about half of them never find homes. During the last 15 years, the PetSmart Charities Adoption Centers, which are located inside every PetSmart® store in the United States and Canada, have found homes for more than 4 million pets.
