The stretch of Dublin Boulevard between Lockhart Street and Fallon Road is finally open. This portion of Dublin’s main road has been barricaded for the past two years in a stand-off over the controversial future Stoneridge Drive extension between the Cities of Dublin and Pleasanton. The City of Dublin had wanted to hold off on opening the easternmost segment of Dublin Boulevard until Pleasanton builds out Stoneridge Drive, so both cities can equally share the burden of cut-through commute traffic to and from the East Bay.

“Why has the City of Dublin opened up Dublin Boulevard, if the City of Pleasanton is not approving the Stoneridge Drive extension anytime soon?”

The opening of Dublin Boulevard may be directly related to the upcoming unveiling of Fallon Sports Park Phase I in July. Once Phase I of Fallon Sports Park opens, the City of Dublin will need to allow visitors and emergency responders easy access to the park. The barricades that have blocked direct traffic to Central Parkway from Fallon Road, therefore, must be removed. In doing so, the City will also need to release Dublin Boulevard, so the cut-through traffic may be spread between Central Parkway and Dublin Boulevard. The City of Dublin has declined to comment on the motivation behind the early opening of Dublin Boulevard between Fallon Road and Lockhart Street.

The extensions of Central Parkway and Dublin Boulevard to Fallon Road are critical to the viability of the Eastern Dublin Specific Plan. In addition, the opening of Central Parkway and Dublin Boulevard will provide a great deal of convenience to residents. How the cut-through traffic from I-580 will impact local residents and businesses remains to be seen.

The cut-through traffic should increase, no doubt, along Dublin Blvd now that it extends to Fallon. I DO look forward to the day where the cut-through traffic on Gleason or Antone Way near John Green Elementary and Fallon School drops so that our children stay safe from all of the speeders trying to get to/from the freeway.

I have personally seen many vehicles drive right through the stop sign at Antone Way and North Bridgepointe, headed towards Fallon Road and down to the freeway. This happens on weekdays and weekends when I’m walking my child to/from the campus.

Any eta for the opening of Fallon near Tassajara? It’s all paved and nice except for one small strip….

Super stoked about this. It will save a few minutes for me going from my condo to 580 East, and returning home on the same route. I wondered about the baracades—didn’t realize the history there. Thanks for the info.

Totally agree with the above poster comment. Gleason and Fallon have become speedways for road-rage prone drivers for the past years. Again, yesterday, someone tailgated me dangerously as I was quietly getting ready to turn right on Fallon and left on Bent Tree.

Interesting though I have seen police cars on Fallon 3 times over the past week, did the numerous deaths and accidents finally made a difference?

Not sure if many residents will dare risking their life walking or taking their bicycle to the Fallon Park with the kind of speeding happening every day unpunished.

Yes, numerous deaths.. Mosquitos smashed into windshields, a squirrel who ventured too far out into the road, and yes, sadly, a few potato bugs…
