2010 Dublin Fireworks

The City of Dublin has designated three parks where “safe and sane” fireworks may be lit from 10AM to 10PM on Fourth of July. The three parks are:
- Alamo Creek Park
- Dublin Sports Grounds
- Emerald Glen Park
The City of Dublin does not allow the use of any fireworks in multi-family housing areas or any other City facilities, schools, and non-designated parks. Please do NOT hesitate to report any non-permitted use of fireworks to Dublin Police Services at (925) 462-1212.

Do all of the proceeds go to the organization listed? I’d like to ensure money from my purchase goes to the specific organization.

Hi Anonymous – that depends on each organization. If there is a group that you’d like to support, then you may want to get in touch with their fireworks event coordinator to see how the net proceeds are split. The City should have a contact listed for each organization.
Thx, John Z.

The booth sponsors get a flat donation from the fireworks sales no matter how much or how little they sell.

Another web site focused on Dublin interviewed people at the various booths, and they tell us what they will spend the proceeds on. With the DUSD budget shortfall, it’s great to see how some schools like Dublin Elementary and DHS will use their funds to buy school supplies and support school programs. But why would Wells Middle School raise money to suppliment a trip to Disneyland? Is their school fiscally sound where they feel that they don’t need to raise money for school supplies?

What do the Fallon, Dougherty, and Green kids get out of the firework sales then?

DPIE manages the booth allocation, so maybe they also get a percentage of the proceeds of each booth. If so, DPIE monies can be distributed to the other schools not hosting a fireworks booth, but there’s no guarantee this will happen.
It’s not just that organization, though. The organizations hosting the booths are providing volunteers to manage it, so there probably weren’t any or enough volunteers from the other schools to host the booth.

Will any of these parks actually have fireworks shows?
4:55 AM on July 2nd, 2010
Hi Anonymous – I don’t believe that there will be any City-sponsored shows at these parks; however, Emerald Glen is usually filled with safe and sane fireworks displays from folks visiting the park.
Thx, John Z.

Hi Anonymous – they are open today. Many opened at 8am and will be open into the evening. The Wells Marching Band booth at the Tassajara Safeway will be open past 9pm.

Are fireworks allowed at these parks on New Years Eve?

Hi Anonymous – I don’t think so. However, City Hall isn’t open during the holiday period, so we can’t confirm.
Thx, John

Hello – Do you have a list for the 2011 locations for the sale of Safe and Sane fireworks in Dublin? In the past few days a booth was set up in front of the Kentucky Fried Chicken and I don’t think one has been at that location before. Just curious if they are adding more booths this year and where the other ones are.
Also, what date do the fireworks go on sale?
Thank you!

Hi Erika – a booth was added this year. I believe that fireworks go on sale early next week as with last year.
Thx, John Z.
