Teams of thieves have targeted several Dublin businesses over the past couple of months. Someone on the team would typically distract employees, while another accomplice would enter the backroom, staff lounge, or other employee-only areas in search of valuables and personal belongings such as purses and wallets. Victims often become aware of these crimes on the same day or after being notified of unauthorized transactions by their credit card companies. The suspects have been described as black female adults, heavy build, in their 20s and 30s.

All Dublin businesses should remind their staff to conceal personal belongings in secured areas. Businesses can deter non-employees from entering employee-only areas by installing mirrors, cameras, chimes, or territorial markers such as short gates linked to audible devices.

The Crime Prevention Unit is available for “Workplace Safety Talks.” Topics covered include:

  • Target Hardening & Deterrence
  • Identifying Suspicious Activity
  • What to Expect When Calling for Service
  • Preparing for the Unexpected: Robberies, Power Outtages, Earthquakes

To schedule a Workplace Safety Talk for your staff, please contact Val Ridad at (925)833-6677 or Laura Correa-Hernandez at (925)833-6686.

I have seen those women in that Safeway. My how the neighborhood has changed during the 10 years I have called Dublin home. I say catch ‘em and hang ‘em up! We don’t need that trash here!

So what should we do if we see those women at Safeway? Alert the manager or the police?

I believe our mayor likes these people because they are going to vote for him and Obama in any circumstance.

It is hard to believe they are on section 8 housing, since they appear to be very well fed.

Post their pictures in front of the Safeway. Do those people have pride in themself? I understand it hard to make a living in this economy. I have been through the same tough time when I was in college. What I had the most were peanut butter and jelly on breads for lunch and dinners for a long year. I am getting sick and tired of those people who feel happy to be the burden of the society.

Comments reflected above do nothing but affirm the policy of “freedom of speech” on the Around Dublin Blog. I cringed at the comments, but EVERYONE has the right to express their opinions. Thank you for not censoring in spite of the City Council’s concerns.

Dublin does not live in a bubble, and racists are free to live where they choose. Fortunately, most of the people I know in Dublin are not like the ones I have seen on this thread.

Was the Police able to trace where the crooks tried to use the credit cards? That would help figure out where they are based. There is no reason to believe any of these women actually live in Dublin given the information.

in reviewing the above comments, there’s not one word that refers to anyone’s race. people who steal and rob, regardless of color or race are TRASH and deserve to be dealt with as such. funny how some people always want to play the ‘race’ card.

Hello All…crime is a horrible problem but some of the comments above are just amazing. Please don’t categorize people based on race and gender alone. Its really sad to see fellow Dublin residents talk in this manner when every year we see this City becoming more economically diverse.

nobody has said one word about race or anyone’s gender. other than the photos clearly show three FEMALES.

I think we are categorizing people by their actions and noting their race and gender.

I agreed. No one mentioned anything about race. I don’t care if they are asian, black or white, whatever. Anyone can be trashy, if they commit crimes. Please don’t be too sensitive.

Are we sure the pictures above are from the Tassajara Safeway? The pictures look like they were taken at the other Dublin Safeway near the 680 freeway.
