The Bay Area Air Quality Management District and the Tri-Valley Air Quality Resource Team present the Great Race for Clean Air 2010. The Race is a friendly competition between Bay Area employers to make a difference in the Bay Area by encouraging the use of commute alternatives such as transit, carpooling, walking and bicycling rather than driving solo to work. The Great Race for Clean Air is a great way for employers to show their concern for their employees and the environment by:

  • Reducing greenhouse gas emissions;
  • Increasing employee use of alternative commute modes;
  • Encouraging carpooling.

Last year’s Great Race participants, including winners Kaiser Permanente, Hacienda Owners’ Association, and City of Pleasanton, contributed to a savings of over 130,000 pounds of carbon dioxide. This year’s Race runs from August through September, 2010. To register, please visit www.sparetheair.org.
