Much has been made about the developments at Dublin’s busiest intersection on the corner of Dublin Boulevard and Dougherty Road with the installation of the new Eternal Ribbon and the construction of the new Nissan dealership by the Ken Harvey automotive group. Ken Harvey’s Dublin Nissan is currently located a few blocks away on Scarlett Court. Dublin Nissan will move into the new building being constructed next to Ken Harvey’s Dublin Honda, and Ken Harvey will begin selling Mazdas at Dublin Nissan’s current facility. The new Mazda dealership will be eligible to receive a 0.5% sales tax credit for the facility enhancements under Dublin’s Sales Tax Reimbursement Program.

The new Dublin Nissan building is expected to be completed in February 2011 and open on March 1, 2011. Ken Harvey automotive group’s General Manager Dave Brown expects to have a grand opening celebration for customers, Dublin city staff and officials, and employees in April 2011. “Construction is going well. We are making strides every day,” said Brown.

According to Brown, the new Nissan building will be a beautiful state-of-the-art facility with brand new Nissan Leaf electric cars and charging stations for customers. Additionally, the facility will have extra tall lifts in the service station to accomodate large commercial trucks. “Given today’s economy, we are incredibly thankful that our loyal customers have enabled us to build this new state-of-the-art facility,” said Brown. He went on to note that the new Dublin Nissan Dealersip “is anticipating the market needs and tech advances for the next ten years.”

The new Dublin Nissan facility should yield more sales and sales tax revenues. Additionally, the Dublin Mazda dealership is expected to attract even more new auto buyers and bring in more sales tax revenues for the City of Dublin. Sales tax funds are critical to paying for the library, parks, recreational activities, and other non-emergency services.

In addition to Dublin Honda, Nissan, and the future Mazda dealership, the Ken Harvey automotive group also owns a Mazda dealership and used car superstore in Tracy.
