Dublin and the rest of the Tri-Valley have attracted thousands of young families over the past few years because of our great schools, safe neighborhoods, job centers, beautiful parks, and fantastic housing opportunities. Moms and dads with young children are always looking for the best kid-friendly restaurants to go out for a meal close to home.
Denica’s has been wildly successful because of its unbelievably yummy baked goodies, breakfast items, and taco lounge. This Dublin mainstay boasts an incredibly fun kids interactive play area, friendly service, and delicious food. “You will find me there every Thursday morning with my son and a few of my friends. Denica’s is a great place for families since they thought ahead and they have a train table and all the cars and trains any child would want to play with,” wrote Michelle W. from Brentwood on Yelp.

On November 29, 2010, the City of Dublin plans to conduct a citywide test of its emergency phone notification system. The calls will begin in the afternoon and will continue until the entire database has been attempted. The message that will be delivered directs recipients to the City website – www.dublin.ca.gov – to add additional contact numbers, and it also asks that recipients spread the word by mentioning the system to family, friends, and neighbors.

The City of Dublin has much to be thankful for this year. New businesses have opened throughout the city, and many more are expected in the coming year. The Grocery Outlet Grand Opening Extravaganza was a huge success. Following Grocery Outlet’s lead, Half Price Books, Sprouts Farmers Market, and Sports Authority are scheduled to open next year in Dublin’s resilient Downtown district. In East Dublin, the Shops at Waterford will once again be at full occupancy with the arrival of Fidelity Investments and Coco Cabana.
The City of Dublin was also named a finalist for the 2010 All America City Award competition. Although not selected to be amongst the top ten All America Cities, Dublin remains proud of its achievements and will seek to return to the competition in 2011. “In the end Dublin was not chosen as a top ten All America City – not due to any flaw on its part but rather due to the high level of competition,” said Dublin School Board President David Haubert.
The PBA Tour also returned to Dublin this year. This event brought out thousands of tourists, fans, and participants and generated a tremendous amount of business, as well as positive press, for Dublin. Ted Hoffman, the owner of Earl Anthony’s Dublin Bowl, deserves most of the credit for bringing the PBA Tour back to the City.

The City of Dublin recently took action to become even more business friendly. As part of Mayor Tim Sbranti’s economic incentive program, the City Council passed a temporary banner ordinance in 2009 to provide businesses with greater flexibility in their marketing and promotion within the Dublin borders. This ordinance was approved on a temporary basis and had been set to expire in 2011.

As Thanksgiving approaches, Dublin San Ramon Services District (DSRSD) would like to keep the drains of all of its rate payers in Dublin, San Ramon, and Pleasanton free and clear of grease clogs. “You might think it doesn’t hurt to rinse a small amount of grease down the drain, especially if you use hot water. But hot water only pushes the grease a bit further down the pipe where it solidifies and traps debris,” said Dan Gallagher, operations manager of the Regional Wastewater Treatment Facility operated by DSRSD. The extra load of a big holiday dinner may be all it takes to form a messy clog that backs up sewage into your home.
What is true for private plumbing becomes magnified in the public sewer system. According to Gallagher, grease is the worst enemy in the District’s battle to keep the public sewer lines open and clear. Toilets used as trash cans also contribute to the problem. DSRSD crews spend months each year cleaning grease, grit, and debris from sewer lines and treatment plant equipment.
DSRSD has a new recipe that will help keep drains and pipes working as they should, during the holidays and every day.

Dublin has some of the best happy hour hot spots in the Tri-Valley. Irresistible deals, friendly staff, interactive play opportunities, comfortable lounge areas, or huge televisions for the big games all help make these establishments highly popular. The Around Dublin Team has put together a few of Dublin’s top places to visit for happy hour fun based on suggestions from readers and Yelp.
Gallagher’s Dublin Pub
“Gallagher’s is hidden behind Round Table Pizza off of Amador Plaza. Gallagher’s is a good small Irish themed sports pub that has some reasonably priced drinks any day of the week. In addition to the reasonably priced libations, you can play some $0.75 pool games,” shared Tri-Valley resident Kat H. “They have a juke box with a pretty good selection of music and they have live music on Friday and Saturday evenings, however with the size of the place makes it quite crowded. – OH – and their bathrooms are very clean!” Customers can play pool for free all day and night at Gallagher’s on Mondays.
