Renowned homebuilder Standard Pacific has been working overtime to grade the land and make infrastructure improvements at Sorrento East in Dublin, CA. Sorrento East is the area of land adjacent to the soon-to-be-opened H.W. Kolb Elementary School and is bound by Grafton Street to the west, Lockhart Street to the east, Central Parkway to the south, and Gleason Drive to the north. In addition to being Sorrento East’s master developer, Standard Pacific is in preparations to begin construction for the model homes at the Piazza and Castello communities later this year. Standard Pacific project manager Aaron Ross-Swain anticipates construction to start on the model homes by September 2011. The model homes will be open to the public by January 2012.
According to Ross-Swain, Standard Pacific’s Piazza community will have 102 single family detached homes in six-pack cluster arrangements. The Castello community will have 66 small lot traditional single family detached homes. Standard Pacific has completely revamped the interior floor plans from what had originally been designed to make the space even more open and livable. “We’re excited to build homes here in Dublin because of the good schools, great location, strong infrastructure, and high design standards that have been applied to new development,” said Ross-Swain. “The growth in Dublin, particularly east Dublin, has been phenomenal.” Ross-Swain also noted that new home sales have been brisk in Dublin.

Do you have a bunch of unused electronics that you want to throw away but don’t want to fill up your trash bin or can’t dispose of them safely? Here is a chance to get rid of your electronic junk and help Dublin’s students at the same time. Valley High School, located at 6901 York Drive in Dublin, CA will be hosting an eWaste fundraiser this Saturday, May 28th from 9:00AM to 4:00PM to raise money for a variety of programs. The programs to be benefited by this fundraiser include Valley High’s after school sports program, tobacco use prevention education, field trips and hikes, student leadership activities, graduation activities, the senior breakfast, the Friday morning breakfast club, and physical education activities.
As a continuation high school, Valley High School provides a lifeline for mostly at-risk students who are in jeopardy of not graduating from high school due to academic, social, or other challenges. Many of Valley High’s students come from difficult home environments that have made classroom learning a challenge. Fundraisers like the May 28th eWaste collection event support programs that help get the lives of these kids back on track, so they can have the same chance to succeed in life as students attending traditional public high schools.
