Parks Reserve Forces Training Area, otherwise known as Camp Parks, will conduct a controlled burn from 9AM to 4PM on August 15th through August 19th (and possibly on August 22nd) in Dublin, CA. The controlled burn is intended to reduce the fire hazards created by the dry brush, allowing safe conditions for soldiers during training. The controlled burn is routinely conducted every year in cooperation with state, county and local fire departments which in turn allow them to train on Wildland Fire Operations. The burn will be a small, low intensity fire in the range areas of the base. The total burn area will be approximately 700 acres.

The Alameda County Fire Department will monitor the burn and be on high alert to mitigate any possible risks to the residents of Dublin. They do encourage residents to keep doors and windows closed and small children and pets inside during burn hours. Prescribed vegetation management burns are carefully planned and controlled burns that must meet a strict criteria of fuel conditions, weather parameters, smoke management and fire safety guidelines. When all conditions (prescriptions) are met, firefighters burn while monitoring the set criteria, fire behavior and designated fire control lines.
