Danville is Among the Safest Cities in the Nation, Rest of Tri-Valley Not Far Behind

According to bestplaces.net, the Tri-Valley cities of Dublin, San Ramon, Danville, and Pleasanton are well below the national average for crime rates. Many families move to the Tri-Valley from the South Bay, Central Valley, and other parts of the East Bay for many reasons including our relatively strong job market, great schools, gorgeous living spaces, and low crime rates. While all of the Tri-Valley is relatively safe, some cities receive higher marks than others for their lower rates of property and violent crimes.
All the cities were rated on a scale of 1 to 10 by BestPlaces.net using FBI data, with a score of 1 being the best. Of the five cities in the Tri-Valley, Danville is the safest based on a crime index calculated with a violent crime index score of 1 and a property crime index score of 3. To put Danville’s numbers in perspective, the national average is 4 for both violent and property crimes. Pleasanton is not far behind Danville with a relatively low violent crime score of 2 and a property crime score of 3.
Livermore is the least safe city in the Tri-Valley with a score of 4 for both property and violent crimes. Livermore’s violent crime index score is not too surprising given its well-documented challenges with gang activities. Livermore is the only city in the Tri-Valley with a violent crimes index score of 4.
With a violent crime index score of 3, San Ramon is the only other Tri-Valley city with a property crime index score of 4. Some have speculated that automobile thefts in front of Windemere and Gale Ranch homes are perpetrated by residents living in the apartments nearby. These property crimes may be the reason for San Ramon’s relatively high property crime score.
As many might expect given the City’s geographic location, Dublin is smack dab in the middle of all Tri-Valley cities with property and violent crime index scores of 3.
Violent crime includes murder and non-negligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault. All violent crimes involve force or threat of force. Property crime includes burglary, larceny-theft, motor vehicle theft, and arson.

I moved to Danville from Dublin. Great downtown, awesome schools, and my neighbors all know each other. Having said that, Dublin does have great shopping centers and BART. I also love the drama in Dublin politics and enjoy this blog.

Danville is right on earthquake fault line. One quake will destroy most part of the city and make it the least safe place to live.

Nice try, West Dublin is on top of the Calaveras Fault and don’t forget most of East Dublin was a swamp there is little thing called liquefaction that will destroy everyone’s house in Pleasanton, Dublin and San Ramon. Look it up.

A swamp? Maybe the flat part but the houses are mostly built in the hills…how can the hills used to be swamp? Its so dry out there nothing grew.
