Dublin’s City Council recently gave its blessing to replace Day on the Glen with a new food and wine festival at Emerald Glen Park starting September 2012. The new special event, tentatively called “Taste of the Tri-Valley” by Mayor Tim Sbranti, will feature local restaurants, regional wineries, and popular Bay Area food trucks. The price tag for the festival will be about $75,000 in the first year plus the cost of police, fire, and public works services. Net costs to the City are expected to decrease as the festival gains popularity. Unlike its predecessor Day on the Glen, the inaugural “Taste of the Tri-Valley” will last only one day.
In addition to the wine tasting and the good eats, “Taste of the Tri-Valley” will feature live musical entertainment, an outdoor art exhibit, and cooking demonstration by local celebrity chefs throughout the day. The event will have the feel of a large farmers market.
While the “Taste of the Tri-Valley” food and wine festival will have a more adult focus compared to Day on the Glen, the City of Dublin will have plenty of fun-filled activities for kids. A pavilion where kids can enjoy their own food sampling, juice tasting, and live entertainment will be available all day. In addition, the planned sidewalk chalk demonstration will provide a youthful counterpoint to the outdoor art exhibit for the adults.
