Many fans have shown a wave of anger towards the series, for being a lackluster addition to the Lord of the Rings Saga. Many fans were upset that the series represented nothing for which the Lord of the Rings stands for. Several fans stated that the show was boring and lacked character.  Besides the criticism regarding the story and the continuity of the show with the Lord of the Rings Saga, Many fans have praised the show’s VFX for being beautiful and breathtaking. As the genre of the show is fantasy, the show heavily relies on the VFX and CGI elements. The VFX and CGI effects used in the show look phenomenal. But, fans have also criticized the show for relying heavily on the VFX and CGI, as it has used artificial effects in almost every frame.  Contrary to the fans' reactions, the show has been fairly welcomed by critics. The show has acquired a rating of 84% on RottenTomatoes, based on the critic's reviews. While the critics at Rotten Tomatoes have praised the show, the fans have expressed their dislike for the show by offering it an average audience score of 39%. On Google Reviews, the show currently holds a rating of 3.2 based on over 8,000 reviews, where a significant number of people have rated the show one out of five stars.   The show is directly competing with HBO's new addition to the Game of Thrones Saga, House of the Dragon. The House of the Dragon received majorly positive reviews from the fans as well as the critics. On the other hand, The Rings of Power is struggling to keep the fans excited for the show’s upcoming episodes. Many believe that the bad rating of the show from users is the result of review bombing, where the show is being targeted with bad reviews. Because of this, Amazon has delayed the acceptance of user reviews for up to three days to tackle the possible events of fake reviews and review bombings.
