MTV's Video Music Awards 2022

MTV’s VMAs 2022 was held on the night of August 28 at Prudential Center, Newark. The show featured some of the most iconic moments of modern pop culture. The awards show displayed some of the most famous music icons of 2022.  The highlight of the show was the stunning performance by Korean pop sensation, Blackpink, as it was the first appearance for the band at the US award show. Blackpink, a Korean girl band, performed their latest hit single, Pink Venom at MTV's VMA 2022. The band made an iconic remark as Lisa, one of the band members, won the award for the best K-pop award for her song, Lalisa. With this award, Lisa became the first K-pop artist to win the Moonman trophy. The band also won the award for best metaverse performance for their feature in one of the biggest mobile games, PUBG Mobile. Following the success of Blackpink at the VMAs 2022, BTS won the award for Group of the Year, for the fourth consecutive time. BTS won the Group of the Year award for the first time in 2019.  Further continuing with the list of winners, Taylor Swift made her remark as she won the best video of the year award for the music video of her song, All too Well. Following this win, Taylor Swift also announced her 10th album which is set to be released on October 21. Billie Eilish won the award for best song of the year for her song Happier than ever. Harry Styles won the award for the best album of the year for his album, Harry’s House. Along with the leading categories, the legendary American rock band, Red Hot Chili Peppers was also awarded the best rock category. Red Hot Chili Peppers also won the honorary award for the Global Icon.  Besides the nominees and the winners of MTV's VMA 2022, the show also highlighted some incredible and unforgettable moments. This was the first appearance of Johnny Depp on TV media after winning the trial of defamation against Amber Heard. During this appearance, Johnny interacted in a classic humorous way to win the crowd’s hearts. He has shared the moment on his Instagram account.  The Puerto Rican rapper, Bad Bunny also shined at the Video Music Awards as he bagged the award for the Artist of the Year. Adding to the list of the winners, Lil Nas X won the award for Best Collaboration, Seventeen for Push Performance of the Year, Jack Harlow for Song of Summer, Dove Cameron for the best new artist, etc.  Along with Blackpink and Johnny Depp, several artists performed live on the stage, including Eminem and Snoop Dogg, who performed their single, From the D2. It also included performances from Lizzo and Maneskin. The night ended out to be one of the best star-studded nights of the year.
